Who lived in the castles
The most important people who lived in the castle were the king, the lady, and the bishop. The atilliator lived in the castle as well, making crossbows, seeing as crossbows were very important back then. The butler lived there to take care of the cellar and provide wine and beer. The Castilian was obviously there because he or she was the main person who owned he castle. The knights also stayed very separate from the king in the castle, because they were mainly there to defend and protect the castle. The cook was there to make and bake any foods the people in the castle needed. The chaplain provided spiritual welfare, and tended to the chapel. The messengers in the castle were there to provide any news or news letters to the king or owner. The named squire would live there as well, seeing as he would be the helper to a knight. And last but not least, the watchmen outside the castle stood guard and keep away any intruders or attackers, and call for help if necessary.
