What were the castles like (parts, rooms, decorations)
In the castles, there was a keep, which is the room where the king, queen, and family lived in. The house consisted of stables and barracks. In addition to the stables, there was also a palisade. Each part of the castle was first made out of wood. Later on, when the techniques advanced, it was then made out of stone. tone consisted of outer and inner curtain walls. Outside, they had a gatehouse with different passages. The castle had a draw bridge that swung down when attackers arrived. They had something called the portcullis (a metal bar gate) that also helped keep people out. Most castles were known as concentric castles because of their concentric rings of walls.
